Cork Passport to be proposed | New source of revenue

Corkonians’ unique attachment and devotion to their county is known country and world wide. The Certificate of Irish Heritage is a great initiative, and creates great value and a bond with our people wherever they live, but why not take this further with a Cork Heritage cert or “Cork passport”.

For those of us born Cork or with Cork heritage we know that this too is something that should be celebrated. Cork people are known for coming home from other counties to buy their C reg cars, wearing their GAA jerseys on casual Fridays and logging into the People’s Republic Website daily. The Cork Heritage cert is just another manifestation of genuine Cork Pride. Dowtcha boy.

We are a people apart and a place apart and I believe that this feeling is shared by Cork people whether they live in Dublin or DC.

This is an initiative that will add value to our diaspora and generate funding for much needed projects for Cork.

Wording of motion:

“That Cork City Council would introduce a ‘Certificate of Corkness’ or a ‘Cork Passport’, issued similarly to the ‘Certificate of Irish Heritage’ scheme introduced by Central Government earlier this year.

The document will be available to people outside Cork who want their Cork roots to be officially recognised. Anybody applying for the certificate will have to provide proof of their Cork ancestry and connection with our great county.

Love the idea !!!! just cos the other counties didn’t think of it there is lots of jealously. If it wasn’t for the Cork people and the rebel instinct we may all have British passports now. So all Cork people celebrate and be damned with the rest if they cannot appreciate the fun of the Corkorians and how we can appreicate where we are from.

This is a great idea. We should build a massive wall around the county too and then we can issue the proposed passport if ever anyone decides to leave.

Great idea – get all the Cork gimps to fork out cash so they can prove their from Cork. Don’t need a certificate for that – your Obsession with Dublin, feelings of inferiority when you visit the Capital city of Ireland, your hugely embarassing accent, high foreheads, close indented eyes, general smell& unhealthy attraction towards ur own blood relations is more than enough proof that you are from Cork

Although maybe it’d be nice for Cork people to get a certificate of sorts as stuff like Leaving Certs & College degree Certs has evaded cork people for an eternity.

Ive been to Cork & I know why you Rebels are rebelling – its a kip. If I lived in a dump half as bad I’d be like Fidel Castro

I was born in cork but not raised there and I’m proud out to be of cork origin, i’d get one myself if I didn’t already have a cert that showed I was from cork…..my birth cert!

This is even more idiotic than the The Certificate of Irish Heritage. And at least that’s an attempt at making money from plonkers with more money than sense, much in all as it appears like the joke about the guy selling skulls of St Patrick at the airport.

There are Cork-born people with some element of sense, you know.
