N25 Progress Update II

Programme dates for both the design and construction phases of the N25 Bandon/Sarsfield Project have now been established and may be summarised as follows:
• The specimen design for the scheme will be completed before the end of this month.
• Expressions of interest have already been invited from contractors for the scheme.
The shortlising process will be carried out early next month and the shortlisted
contractors will begin work on the preparation of their tenders before the end of
next month.
• Completed tenders will then be submitted towards the end of September.
• Subject to availability of funding, the contract will be awarded in October/November
of this year. Works on site will then get underway in December 2010/January 2011.
• It is currently anticipated that the construction phase will last for 24 months.
Works are currently ongoing in relation to establishing the location of existing services. These works will necessitate localised short term lane closures. However, all lane closures will be carried out either during off peak hours or at weekends – it is not anticipated that these works will cause any traffic disruption.
The scale model of the scheme is still available for viewing at the National Road Design Office in Glanmire. It is likely that the model will also be put on display over the coming weeks in both the City Hall and County Hall. Exact dates will be confirmed shortly.
As always, if you have any queries, comments or concerns in relation to the scheme please contact:
