N25 Progess Update

As you may be aware there is a proposed ungrade to the N25 South Ring Road, Sarsfield Road to Bandon Road. The Road Improvement Scheme includes the grade separation of the Bandon Road and Sarsfield Road Roundabouts, the repositioning of the Sarsfield Road Roundabout, the construction of parallel link roads between the Roundabouts, slip roads to and from the SouthRing Road and all ancillary works associated.

I received a recent progress on the N25 from he National Road Design Office.

Works associated with the project will extend from Pouladuff Overbridge on the South Ring Road to the previously completed Waterfall Road Overbridge on the Ballincollig Bypass. The works will include the construction of two flyovers to carry traffic on the N25 over the existing roundabouts at Sarsfield Road and at  Bandon Road.

Funding has now been made available for the scheme and design works are already underway. A detailed programme covering both the design and construction phases will be finalised over the next couple of weeks.

The design team intend to keep members of the public fully informed as the works are progressed. In particular they will be highlighting any works which are likely to disrupt the existing traffic flow. A scale model of the proposed scheme is available for viewing at the National Road Design Office in Glanmire.     I am representing the owners of no.1 Elmvale Court, Wilton (Ms Antonia Keane) and 16 Elmvale Court, Wilton (Mr Jerry Murray) and would like to speak to an engineer about the proposed Flyover and associated road works as these could have an effect on the structures and boundary walls of the above mentioned properties given the ground conditions in this area which is very marshy and subject to ground subsidence as has already taken place on other properties in the area adjoining the road. There is also the question of increased noise levels – are the owners of the properties eligible to grants for the replacement of the windows with triple glazed units?
