Irish Blog Awards 2010 – Winner!

Last night in Galway at the 5th Annual Irish Blog Awards, I won in the category “Best Blog of  a politician”.

This was hugely fulfilling award for me. Over the last year I have tried to develop my Web 2.0 presence and to use my blog to keep people updated on what was happening at a local level – which proved particularly successful during the flooding in Cork in November 2009.

However to win, was amazing! Originally nominated in two categories “Best Blog by a Politician” and “Best Newcomer”- I never expected to be a finalist let alone, to be an outright winner, especially given the stiff category in the political category and the fact that this was my first time being nominated.  (scroll through for the original nominees)

Congratulations to Damien Mulley and the organisers of the Irish Blog Awards, for what was a unique and hugely successful event.  To the sponsor of the category “Best Blog of  a politician”, Leviathan, to those who nominated me and to those who read and contribute all I can say is thanks and I am extremely grateful!
