Last night Tuesday 17th June, 2008 Cork City Council granted permission to Bill Keary to build a four story apartment block and eight houses on the site of the former Dunmahon Service Station.
I am hugely disappointed at the City Planners decision on this given the height; density and visual impact that this development will have on the Douglas Road as a whole. I also believe that this permission will set a precedent in terms of height for future developments in this area.
There were nineteen conditions attached to this permission (see link below).
In light of this grant of permission I would urge the resident to appeal to An Bord Pleanala. An appeal must be received by the Board within four weeks beginning on the date of the making of the decision by the Cork City Council, i.e. 14th July 2008.
The residents will have my full support if they decide to appeal to An Bord Pleanala.
